Mark Watson and his brother Bruce farm 3,500 acres north of Alliance, Nebraska. The farm has been in the family for more than 100 years and they have been practicing Continuous No-Till since 1994.
The farm has both dryland and irrigated ground, raising wheat, corn, pinto beans, garbanzo beans, proso millet and peas.
The Watson brothers were recognized as Nebraska Master Conservationists in 2007. Mark has served as the No-Till Education Coordinator for Western Nebraska since 2007 and shares the how’s and why’s of Continuous No-Till Farming using his real-world experience. Part of that sharing is through his weekly column, No-Till Notes published in newspapers throughout the Panhandle. You can also see the column here, and reference past column in the archives.
